This project focuses on re-imagining and designing the space, through the interior architecture to elegantly update this loft. The client needed a flexible space in the city for frequent business trips that could function as a place to stay and also serve as an office space to conduct business meetings.
The design emphasizes the “cube within a cube” by replacing a heavy colonnade with 2 steel columns that open up the space while complimenting the existing loft railing. Reclaimed wood siding adds warmth to the industrial elements while new window shades and ceiling fans provide for a more comfortable interior environment. The original concrete floor is topped with a micro coating, used to eliminate noisy re-finishing that would disturb other tenants. To stay within the client’s budget, the kitchen cabinets are re-painted and simplified. A waterfall counter at the island & new glass cabinet doors provides more counter space, seating, storage and an elegant, uncluttered focal point.
All new furnishings include classic modern pieces mixed with contemporary items. The dining table expands for more seating during a conference. The downstairs room is transformed into a modern office, including a built-out wall for all the client’s technical requirements. A pop of color with a cobalt blue wall gives the space a fresh, modern vibe. Upstairs is the loft bedroom. The bath was expanded and remodeled with a new vanity, glass tiles, and lighting. New lighting fixtures throughout provide much needed lighting while working with the existing pendant and track lights.
